Speax are super simple to care for, so you can use them again and again — just treat your Speax like you would any other delicates (your regular undies or bras).
- Machine wash cold or handwash
- Throw them in with the rest of your laundry on a delicate cycle. (Your other clothes will be fine!) Do not use bleach or fabric softener. If you don’t have a washing machine, try handwashing your Speax in lukewarm water.
- Tumble dry low or hang dry
- Try not to expose stretchy fabric (like Speax, and probably the rest of your undies) to high heat — a few times is okay, but making it a habit may change the fit. Or, hang them in a non-humid environment, and wait for them to fully dry before putting them away. No ironing, please!
Tips & tricks
Caring for your Speax quickly becomes a part of your routine. Here are some pointers from a few Speax super fans:
Two birds, one stone
I already keep a bag for dirty clothes in my gym bag, and since I mostly need Speax at the gym (one word: squats), I wash everything right away when I get home. - Olivia J.
Keep things cool
I don’t have enough pairs to warrant drying them separately so I just air dry them. Recently, I started putting the drying rack facing the AC (fan would probably work too) so the crotch of the underwear dries faster! - Denise B.
Sometimes I don’t have time to do laundry as quickly as I probably should, so to make sure the undies get extra clean, I rinse them in equal parts water and white vinegar for about 15 minutes before washing. - Jody A.
Common washing FAQs
Is it okay to wash Speax with other clothes?
Yes, washing Speax with your other laundry is perfectly hygienic and won’t stain your other clothes. If you’re still concerned, you can also give your undies a quick rinse after use, allow them to dry, then throw them in the hamper for laundry day.
Oops, I put my Speax in the dryer on High. What will happen?
Don’t worry — forgetting to separate them a few times won’t break Speax. However, repeated exposure to high temperature can change the fit of the underwear (and even cause shrinkage!), so try not to make a habit of it.
How long do Speax take to hang dry?
Most styles of Speax shouldn’t take longer than 10-12 hours to dry under non-humid conditions. These drying times may be affected by humidity levels and airflow depending on where you hang them up.
What temperature should I wash my Speax at?
Machine-wash your Speax on cold. The standard cold wash is 60-80 degrees Fahrenheit (15 C - 27 C). If you're hand-washing, the water should feel close to room temperature.
Are Speax prone to shrinking?
The underwear shouldn’t be prone to shrinking if the recommended care instructions are followed, but what may cause some shrinking is consistently drying the undies on High. To avoid this, try your best to separate Speax in the laundry to dry them Low, or hang them up to dry.
