“Women’s health” is a rather broad topic, is it not? From our lady parts to our lady brains, the love we give to our bodies can take, like, basically any form. And what self love or self care looks like for one woman may be very different for another. With this in mind for Women’s Health Wednesdays, we wanted to embrace activities that exercise both the body and mind, to keep us healthy in the most wholesome of ways. And this was when we stumbled upon erotic dancing and Burlesque (wholesome AF, obviously).

Last week we got a lesson in body language and self love from a feminist named Bunny Buxom, a NYC-based burlesque performer and founder of Rabbit hole Productions. It was a big old pile of nerves, adrenaline, and liberation (kinda like the shape that our  long red gloves took by the end of the class). The experience was different for each of us who participated, but TBH it was a pretty dope team bonding activity.

On the “Is It Feminist?” scale, Burlesque dances between empowering and demeaning and has plenty of critics as well as champions, which is one of the reasons we were so eager to try it (and, like any rational being, we desperately wanted to try titty tassels). Luckily for us, we found Rabbit Hole, which is a feminist company with a focus on empowering and supporting women. “Ultimately, it’s about feeling good about yourself. It’s about empowering yourself,” Bunny told us after our session in midtown. Because we wanted to report back on the most authentic experience, our beloved team committed, y’all. Your period pals at Team THINX learned a whole routine and embraced vulnerability with Bunny and with one another, and now for you..  So whether it’s your workout routine of choice or a new fave spectator sport, we think there may be a lil somethin’ for everybody. *wink*
