Their team is committed to creating an ethical, sustainable working environment and prioritizes three key pillars: female leadership, employee well-being, and environmental sustainability.

MAS’ hallmark women’s empowerment platform, Women Go Beyond, provides their female team members with long-term growth and leadership opportunities, and fosters a safe and level working environment for all employees.
Women Go Beyond is structured with four pillars of success: career advancement, work-life balance, skills development, and rewarding excellence. As explained on their program page, “We focus on promoting knowledge, awareness, leadership skills, attitudinal changes and the ability to achieve a well-rounded and holistic life-experience.”
They also provide supplemental education with classes in entrepreneurial development, English, and information technology.
Right now, over 70% of their workforce is made up of women, and the program helps in improving their upward mobility.
MAS understands that taking care of their employees, and nurturing the potential of each individual, is key to success. They are a benchmark for compensation and benefits practices across the industry in Sri Lanka.
Along with education initiatives to foster talent, work-life balance is also a priority. The plants provide transportation, free and subsidized meals, fitness sessions, social get-togethers, and all employees enjoy well-balanced workdays.
Ahead of the curve, MAS integrated sustainable manufacturing to the core of their business in 2016, and has the long-term goal of reaching zero-waste by 2025. They’re committed to championing climate change, managing their ecological footprint, and supporting the planet — specifically by replacing habitats in 100 times the space that MAS occupies, also by 2025.
Fun fact: MAS also recycles their industrial sludge into paving bricks and tiles. So far, 220,000 bricks have been produced (and counting!).
